Vehicular movement banned on Narayangadh-Muglin-Kathmandu road
CHITWAN:- The District Administration Office, Chitwan, has banned the movement of vehicles on the Muglin-Narayanghat road section and the Prithvi Highway (leading to Kathmandu) starting at 10 PM tonight.
In a notice issued this evening, the office announced the ban, stating that vehicle movement is prohibited from 10 PM until further notice.
The Chitwan District Administration Office has banned vehicle movement from 10 PM, citing the onset of rainfall in the district and neighboring areas—including Dhading—and forecasts indicating that the precipitation will intensify; the decision takes into account the potential risks associated with operating vehicles at night under these conditions.
Apologizing for any inconvenience caused to travelers, the Administration Office has requested that vehicles be parked in safe locations and that travelers remain in secure areas.
The Administration Office has also requested that individuals stay in contact with agencies such as the Nepal Police and the Armed Police Force for further information, assistance, coordination, and facilitation.
Anil Thapa, Chief of the District Traffic Police Office in Chitwan, stated that vehicles heading towards Bharatpur would be stopped at locations such as the Bharatpur Central Bus Park, Aaptari, Ramnagar, and Jugedi.
According to him, coordination has been established to halt vehicles coming from Kathmandu towards Pokhara and Narayangadh at Muglin and Kurintar, while vehicles arriving from Pokhara will be stopped at various points within the Tanahun area.
Traffic Police Chief Thapa stated that information regarding the highway closure is being disseminated through various social media channels and police checkpoints.
He mentioned that coordination is underway to systematically hold vehicles arriving from the direction of East Nawalparasi at locations such as Gaindakot, Bhedabari, and Thumsi. He added that, in line with the policy of not keeping any vehicles in landslide-affected areas, efforts are being made to ensure all vehicles are moved to safe locations by 10 o’clock.
