US Assistant Secretary Kapur meets Foreign Minister Khanal

KATHMANDU:- US Assistant Secretary of State for South and Central Asian Affairs S. Paul Kapur paid a courtesy call on Foreign Minister Shisir Khanal at Singha Durbar on Tuesday.

During the meeting, the two sides discussed further strengthening Nepal–US bilateral relations, with a focus on expanding trade and investment cooperation. The visit comes as part of Kapur’s three-day trip aimed at deepening the overall partnership between the two countries.

Kapur, who arrived in Kathmandu on Monday, is holding a series of meetings with senior government officials, business leaders and other stakeholders. His engagements are expected to centre on understanding Nepal’s policy priorities and exploring ways the United States can support them.

He has already met political leaders including Rastriya Swatantra Party President Rabi Lamichhane and representatives from the private sector, including discussions on expanding US business opportunities in Nepal, particularly in the ICT sector and digital infrastructure.

Kapur’s visit is considered significant as he is the highest-ranking US official to visit Nepal since the formation of the new government earlier this year.
