Voter Education Drive Concludes Nationwide Ahead of HoR Elections

KATHMANDU:- With just three days remaining for the House of Representatives (HoR) elections, the Election Commission has completed its nationwide voter education campaign aimed at promoting informed participation and minimising invalid votes.

The programme, launched on February 15, was carried out in all 6,743 wards across the country, covering every ward in the 753 local levels. Voter education volunteers were mobilised in each ward to inform citizens about the significance of elections and the proper voting procedures.

Election Commissioner Dr Janaki Kumari Tuladhar said the campaign was successfully concluded after volunteers reached voters directly at their doorsteps. She commended the role of Female Community Health Volunteers, whose involvement was instrumental in making the targeted outreach effective.

Female community health volunteers have been entrusted with voter education responsibilities since the 2079 BS general elections.

To ensure effective implementation, the Commission had also designated focal persons at the local level to monitor the programme and conduct necessary orientations.

The Commission believes the voter education drive will contribute to a smoother voting process and greater public awareness in the upcoming parliamentary elections.
