Two-way traffic resumes on Tribhuvan and Kanti highways

MAKWNAPUR:- Two-way vehicular movement has resumed regularly along the Tribhuvan Highway and Kanti Highway connecting Hetauda with Kathmandu from today.

Santosh Subedi, administrative officer at the District Administration Office, Makawanpur, said both highways were reopened for two-way traffic following the resumption of vehicular movement along the Krishnabhir section of the Prithvi Highway in Dhading district.

The Prithvi Highway had been obstructed after a section of the road collapsed at Krishnabhir.

The Tribhuvan Highway connects Hetauda with Kathmandu via Palung and Naubise, while the Kanti Highway links Hetauda with Kathmandu via Tikabhairav and Lalitpur.

Following the disruption along the Prithvi Highway, an arrangement had been made from September 1 to facilitate safer and more systematic movement of vehicles. Under the arrangement, cargo and other large vehicles travelling towards Kathmandu were directed to use the Tribhuvan Highway, while they were required to return via the Kanti Highway.

Subedi said the arrangement had now been lifted and both highways were open for regular two-way vehicular movement following the reopening of the Krishnabhir section of the Prithvi Highway.
