Lawmakers call on government to strengthen climate diplomacy
KATHMANDU:- Lawmakers have called on the government to strengthen its international political initiatives on climate diplomacy.
Speaking at a meeting of the Monitoring and Evaluation of the Implementation of the Directive Principles, Policies and Obligations of the State Committee under the Federal Parliament, the lawmakers said climate justice should be promoted as an international political issue.
The lawmakers also called for greater attention to the impact of rising temperatures in the Himalayan region, risks from glacial lakes and the protection of mountains.
The discussion focused on the recent Bhotekoshi flood and the impacts of climate change.
Tribhuvan University Professor Dr Chhatramani Sharma said Nepal should raise the issue of climate justice more effectively at the international level.
