KASKI:- Snowfall has been recorded at Annapurna Base Camp, which is situated above Machhapuchchhre Base Camp in Kaski. Machhapuchchhre Base Camp lies along the trekking route to Annapurna Base Camp.
According to Chhomrong Tourism Management Committee Chair Jaganras Gurung, the snowfall has been occurring since Monday evening. This snowfall coincides with a surge of tourists, predominantly domestic, arriving shortly after the Tihar festival. However, Annapurna Conservation Area Project Chief Rabin Kadariya stated that this weather development has caused no difficulties for the visitors.
Visitors who reached Annapurna Base Camp on Monday had already started descending before the snowfall, which has now spread down to Machhapuchchhre Base Camp. The area below is receiving rainfall. Visitors have been urged to take precautions during trekking.
Since the Tihar festival, among tourists arriving at Annapurna Base Camp, 80 percent have been domestic tourists, while 20 percent are foreigners.
