Water flow at Koshi Barrage reached 240,555 cusecs

SAPTARI:- The water flow in the Saptakoshi River has increased. The rise in flow at the Koshi Barrage is due to continuous rainfall since Thursday night.

According to the latest measurement taken at 2:15, the river’s flow has reached 240,555 cusecs. The Koshi Barrage control room reported that 30 sluice gates have been opened as the water flow has reached the danger level. The District Administration Office, Sunsari, stated that the water flow at the Koshi Barrage continues to rise.

Ishwari Prasad Aryal, the Chief District Officer of Sunsari, stated that residents living near the Koshi River and in its downstream areas have been urged to exercise high vigilance due to the rising water flow.

Aryal emphasized that residents living along the riverbanks, in downstream areas, and in high-risk locations need to take necessary precautions and move to safer areas in light of the potential risk of flooding.

As the water flow is still on the rise, the concerned authorities are continuously monitoring the condition of the river. The barrage has 56 gates.
