RK Sharma provides Rs 2.5 million in aid for Rasuwa flood victims

KATHMANDU:- RK Sharma, former president of the Non-Resident Nepali Association (NRNA), has contributed NPR 2.5 million for the relief and rehabilitation of flood victims.

On behalf of the Qatar-based Pigeon Engineering Group—led by Sharma—the sum of NPR 2.5 million was deposited into the Prime Minister’s Disaster Relief Fund on Friday.

Sharma provided this assistance for relief and rehabilitation after devastating floods—which entered Nepal from Tibet on Bhadra 10 and surged through the Bhote Koshi and Trishuli rivers—caused extensive loss of life and property in districts including Rasuwa, Nuwakot, and Dhading.

In a statement issued on Friday, Sharma described his contribution of 2.5 million rupees not merely as a financial donation, but as an expression of his sense of duty, love, and emotional attachment to his motherland. He remarked that the unity shown by Nepalis scattered across the globe—standing together in support of their homeland during national crises such as earthquakes, pandemics, floods, and landslides—is a great strength of Nepali society.

“We Nepalis have always stood united during national crises such as earthquakes, pandemics, and floods and landslides,” he said. “Today, the time has come once again to put that unity, goodwill, and humanitarian spirit into practice.”
