Rescued: four employees trapped in Rasuwagadhi Hydropower Project

RASUWA:- Four employees trapped inside the Rasuwagadhi Hydropower Project have been safely rescued.

The rescued employees have been identified as Bhakta Bahadur Majhi, Bal Bahadur Majhi, Rajan BK and Sunil Majhi.

The rescue team brought them safely out of the project amid adverse weather conditions, according to the Ministry of Energy, Water Resources and Irrigation.

Similarly, preparations are under way for a possible rescue operation at the Trishuli-3 ‘B’ Hydropower Project.

Although adverse weather conditions have caused some delays in the rescue operation, the rescue campaign in the affected areas is being continued with high priority.

Meanwhile, a dedicated helicopter equipped with necessary rescue materials has been deployed to rescue people trapped at the flood-affected Upper Trishuli-3 ‘A’ Hydropower Project.

The Nepal Electricity Authority (NEA) has stepped up efforts to rescue employees and workers stranded at various hydropower projects following the floods.

Rescue teams have been mobilised particularly to evacuate employees and workers stranded at various hydropower projects in Nuwakot and Rasuwa, and to relocate employees in the Shanti Bazaar area to safer locations, the NEA said.

The safety and rescue of personnel working at flood-affected projects have been given high priority.

The NEA said rescue and relief operations would continue as required.

The NEA has urged everyone to remain patient and calm during this difficult situation and requested the public to rely only on information issued by official authorities.

A team equipped with essential rescue equipment has also been mobilised to the project to facilitate the rescue of people trapped inside the tunnel.
