Possibility of heavy rainfall in Himalayan, Hilly and Terai regions

KATHMANDU:- The Department of Hydrology and Meteorology has stated that the country is currently under the influence of monsoon winds. The monsoon low-pressure trough is currently positioned slightly north of its normal location, near the Terai region of Nepal.

As a result, the weather across the country is generally cloudy. Currently, light to moderate rain accompanied by lightning is occurring in many places across Koshi, Bagmati, and Gandaki provinces; in some places within Lumbini, Karnali, and Sudurpaschim provinces; and in a few locations in Madhesh Province.

Generally cloudy conditions will prevail across the country this afternoon. There is a possibility of light to moderate rain in many places within the mountainous regions of Koshi, Bagmati, and Gandaki provinces, as well as in some areas of Lumbini, Karnali, and Sudurpaschim provinces.

There is a possibility of light to moderate rain accompanied by lightning in the hilly and Terai regions of Koshi, Bagmati, Gandaki, and Lumbini provinces, as well as in many places across Madhesh Province. Similarly, light to moderate rain accompanied by lightning is likely in the hilly regions of Karnali Province and in some places across the hilly and Terai regions of Sudurpaschim Province.

There is a possibility of heavy to very heavy rainfall in one or two places across the Himalayan, hilly, and Terai regions of Bagmati and Gandaki provinces; the Himalayan and hilly regions of Koshi Province; Madhesh Province; and the hilly and Terai regions of Lumbini Province.

Generally cloudy conditions will prevail across the country tonight. The Department has stated that there is a possibility of light to moderate rain in some places within the Himalayan and hilly regions, and in a few places across the Terai regions.
