Light to moderate rain expected in some parts of the hilly regions and Terai
KATHMANDU:- With the influence of monsoon winds persisting across the country, there is a possibility of heavy rainfall today in one or two places within the hilly regions of Koshi, Bagmati, Gandaki, Lumbini, and Karnali provinces.
According to the Department of Hydrology and Meteorology, the monsoon low-pressure trough is currently situated near its normal position in the west and slightly north of its normal position in the east.
The Terai region of Sudurpaschim Province is experiencing partly cloudy skies, while the rest of the country is generally to completely cloudy. Light to moderate rain is occurring in some areas of Koshi, Bagmati, Karnali, Gandaki, and Lumbini provinces.
This afternoon, the weather across the country will remain generally to completely cloudy. Moderate rain and snowfall are likely in some places in the Himalayan region, while light to moderate rain is expected in many areas of the hilly region and some parts of the Terai.
Heavy rain is likely in one or two places across the hilly regions of Koshi, Bagmati, Gandaki, Lumbini, and Karnali provinces.
Skies across the country are forecast to remain generally to completely cloudy tonight. There is a possibility of moderate rain and snowfall in some areas of the high-altitude regions of Koshi, Bagmati, and Gandaki provinces, as well as in one or two places in the high-altitude areas of Lumbini, Karnali, and Sudurpaschim provinces.
Moderate rain is likely in many places across the hilly regions of Koshi, Bagmati, Gandaki, and Lumbini provinces, and in some areas of Karnali and Sudurpaschim provinces.
Similarly, the Department has stated that moderate rainfall is likely in Madhesh Province, in many Terai areas of Koshi, Bagmati, Gandaki, and Lumbini provinces, and in some Terai areas of Sudurpaschim Province.
Heavy rainfall is expected in the Himalayan, hilly, and Terai regions of Koshi, Bagmati, and Gandaki provinces, as well as in some Terai areas of Madhesh and Lumbini provinces; very heavy rainfall may occur in one or two locations.
The Department has urged people in areas prone to heavy rainfall to exercise caution, considering the risks associated with debris flow, floods, landslides, and soil erosion.
As adverse weather conditions could affect daily life, agriculture, healthcare services, tourism, mountaineering, as well as road and air transport, the department has also requested that the public stay regularly updated on the latest weather-related information.
