NRNA Europe Regional Conference to be held in Ireland in August

KATHMANDU:- The 17th European Regional Conference of the Non-Resident Nepali Association (NRNA) is scheduled to be held in August. Preparations have begun for the conference, which will be held in Dublin, Ireland from August 10-12, under the name ‘Sankalp’, informed Robert Limbu, the European Regional Coordinator.

At a virtual press conference organized on Sunday to provide initial information about the conference, he said that the conference, which is being held with the main goal of issuing the Dublin Declaration, has prioritized the continuity of citizenship, foreign investment, and institutional strengthening.

The conference will discuss issues such as dual citizenship, citizenship rights, NRN heads, and the rights of Gorkha veterans. In addition, there will be a debate on the political and civic participation of the diaspora.

There will be specific discussions on how to mobilize capital in the diaspora in Nepal’s hydropower, tourism, agriculture, and technology sectors. Areas of investment will be identified, especially in connection with the Chairman’s 10 billion flagship program.

The 2030 Action Roadmap will be developed with a focus on how to sustain long-term economic growth rather than immediate gains.

The conference also emphasized internal democracy and structural reforms within the organization. Following the court ruling and the recent situation, the NRNA is currently in the process of institutional reform and strategic restructuring. This time, discussions will be held towards implementing a statute that will allow all registered members to vote by making radical changes to the delegate system and voting system.

Safe migration is extremely important in the European context, and a separate agenda will be set on this issue. In addition, the core objective of the conference is to mainstream and empower second-generation youth and women.

To make the conference a success, NRNA ICC President Dr. Hemraj Sharma expressed confidence that such events would be successful with everyone’s support. He expressed his commitment to the active participation of ICC in it. Similarly, General Secretary Dr. Chiranjivi Khadka expressed confidence that the conference would be successful in a transparent manner. The virtual press conference, which was attended by NRNA Vice President Ram Sharan Simkhada, Lok Dahal and other office bearers, was facilitated by Europe Women Coordinator Baba Rajeshwori Thapa.
