Nepali restaurant Jimbu Thakali opens franchise store in Gurugram, Haryana
Established in 2016, Jimbu Thakali currently operates four branches in Nepal—located at Kalimati, Naya Baneshwor, Jhamsikhel, and Tangal. According to the company, it has served over two million customers to date. The company has stated that it aims to establish Nepali Thakali cuisine as an international restaurant brand.
KATHMANDU:- Jimbu Thakali Restaurant is set to launch its first international branch in Gurugram, Haryana, India. According to the company, the restaurant will begin operations on Shrawan 15 at a commercial complex in Sector 65, an area known as a major business and entertainment hub in Gurugram.
Bibekman Sherchan, founder of Jimbu Thakali, stated that he views the expansion of branches into India not merely as a business venture, but as the beginning of a campaign to introduce Nepali cuisine, culture, and hospitality to the international market. He noted that the objective is to provide customers from India and other countries with an experience of authentic Thakali flavors alongside Nepal’s culture, hospitality, and Himalayan lifestyle.
According to the company, the new branch will offer dishes such as Thakali meal sets, *Dhindo*, buckwheat-based items, *Gundruk*, *Sukuti*, and delicacies featuring the flavors of *Jimbu* and *Timur*. To preserve authentic taste, indigenous Nepali spices—including *Jimbu* and *Timur*—will be sourced directly from Nepal, while other fresh ingredients will be procured locally.
The company has stated that, alongside traditional Thakali dishes, the menu incorporates some dishes prepared in a modern style to cater to international customers. Items such as Chatamari, Bara, various types of Momos, Gundruk soup, Sekuwa, sweets made from Juju Dhau, and Khuwa Yomari will also be featured on the menu.
The company stated that the restaurant incorporates elements such as Nepali woodcarving, intricate windows, artistic pillars, and decor reflecting Thakali culture to showcase a distinct Nepali style. The aim is to provide customers with an authentic experience of Nepal by blending Nepali architecture and hospitality with modern amenities.
The branch has the capacity to accommodate approximately 90 customers at a time. According to the company, a branch of the Nepali coffee brand ‘Himalayan Java’—which is already operating in India—will also be located on the same premises.
