Indian-origin doctor Advait Deshmukh jailed in Ohio for filming in toilet
OHIO:- Dr. Advait Deshmukh, an Indian-origin doctor, has been convicted of hiding a camera in a staff restroom at ProMedica Toledo Hospital in Ohio. He was sentenced to six months in jail and three years of probation.
The terms of his sentence also included community control, with conditions such as registering as a sex offender for 15 years and continuing mental health treatment.
According to a court notice, the former physician was sentenced last month in the Lucas County Court of Common Pleas after being found guilty of one count of attempted tampering with evidence and seven counts of voyeurism. According to Fox 19, Deshmukh will remain on active adult probation until June 2029.
The judge stated that the former physician had informed the court of his plans to move to Franklin County, where he would be required to register and continue complying with the associated requirements.
The case against the Indian-origin man began after a mobile phone was discovered hidden inside a unisex restroom at ProMedica Toledo Hospital in Ohio.
According to a report by ‘WTOL 11’, when an eyewitness attempted to remove the device, Deshmukh snatched the phone away, claiming it belonged to him.
Later, a joint investigation by the Toledo Police and ProMedica discovered more than 80 photos on the phone taken between February and May 2025.
Investigators identified six victims; none of them had consented to having their videos or photos taken. Police suspect there may be more photos and victims, as evidence indicates such recordings had been taking place since 2018.
Deshmukh reportedly apologized to the victims before his sentencing. His lawyer had requested probation instead of a prison sentence.
