Formal talks between Dr. Govinda KC and negotiation team tomorrow

Dr. KC has been on a fast-unto-death for the past three days, raising various demands for reforms in the medical education and health sectors.

KATHMANDU:- A courtesy meeting took place on Saturday between Dr. Govinda KC, who is currently on a hunger strike, and Education Secretary Chudamani Paudel, a member of the government’s negotiation team.

According to Dr. Amrit Jaisi, an associate of Dr. KC, Education Secretary Paudel personally visited Dr. KC, who is undergoing treatment at the hospital. Jaisi stated that during the meeting, Secretary Paudel inquired about Dr. KC’s health condition and conveyed the government’s goodwill.

According to Jaisi, formal talks could not take place today as other members of the government negotiation team were either out of Kathmandu or otherwise occupied. Both sides have agreed to begin formal negotiations tomorrow once the remaining members of the team are present.

Dr. KC has been on a fast-unto-death for the past three days, raising various demands for reforms in the medical education and health sectors. It is hoped that tomorrow’s talks will yield a positive outcome, addressing his demands and leading to the end of his hunger strike.
