Five Appointed as Nepal Tourism Board Members Through Open Competition

KATHMANDU:- The government has appointed five new members to the Nepal Tourism Board (NTB) through an open and competitive selection process aimed at enhancing transparency and strengthening the country’s tourism sector.

The Ministry of Culture, Tourism and Civil Aviation announced the appointments on Tuesday. Those selected are Khum Bahadur Subedi, Santosh Pokharel, Shrijana KC, Pemba Sherpa, and Dr. Shobhita Shrestha Dhakal.

According to the ministry, the appointments were made based on the recommendations of a selection committee formed under the Tourism Act. Candidates were assessed on their academic qualifications, professional expertise, contributions to the tourism industry, leadership abilities, and overall vision for the sector.

The selection process drew significant interest, with around 1,100 applicants from across Nepal competing for the five positions.

The ministry stated that adopting an open competition was intended to ensure a transparent and merit-based appointment process while promoting effective tourism policies, attracting investment, developing tourism destinations, and strengthening collaboration between the public and private sectors.

Officials expressed confidence that the newly appointed board members would contribute their expertise and leadership to advancing the sustainable development and long-term growth of Nepal’s tourism industry.
