DAO Kathmandu urges to evacuate houses and huts constructed on encroached land

KATHMANDU:- The District Administration Office, Kathmandu, has urged immediate evacuation of settlements along the rivers in various parts of the district, as well as the houses built on encroached government, public, or privately owned land.

In a public notice issued today, the DAO requested that such houses be removed by April 30 evening. The notice issued by the Assistant Chief District Officer Muktiram Rijal states that the evacuation of settlements in high-risk disaster areas will begin from 7:00 am on May 1.

The district authority has sought assistance from the police to safely transfer patients, disabled individuals, elderly people, pregnant women, new mothers, or children in these settlements and to remove personal belongings, clothes, and livestock from the area.

The office has also stated that identifying real landless people and families and addressing their issues permanently will be pursued promptly, while those wrongly reported as landless will be identified and brought under legal jurisdiction.
