Opposition parties demand withdrawal of ordinance, call for Parliament session

KATHMANDU:- Opposition parties have urged the government to withdraw the ordinance and immediately convene a parliamentary session.

A meeting of opposition parties held at the parliamentary party office of the main opposition Nepali Congress today decided to demand the withdrawal of the ordinance being brought by the government, according to Nepali Congress Chief Whip Basana Thapa.

The meeting also called for the immediate convening of Parliament, saying the ordinance was introduced by bypassing the legislature.

Similarly, the meeting urged President Ram Chandra Paudel not to approve the ordinance recommended by the government.

Leaders from the Nepali Congress, CPN-UML, Nepali Communist Party, and Rastriya Prajatantra Party were present at the meeting.

The government had recommended the ordinance on the Constitutional Council and cooperatives to the President on Monday.
