By Puskar Bhandari,DADELDHURA:- The ‘National Gaura Festival 2082’ has been organised at the bus park in Bagbazaar of Dadeldhura, the district headquarters, on Wednesday.

The Radha Krishna Temple Development Committee, Dadeldhura, is organising the four-day festival.

The festival was formally inaugurated by the Mayor of Amargadhi Municipality, Dilliram Joshi.

Women, singing faag hymns for Gaura and Maheshwor, performed worship at Jogenithan in Bagbazaar before showcasing Gaura and Balo dances.

According to the organisers, artists from all nine districts of Sudurpaschim as well as Kalikot district of Karnali participated in the festival.

The cultural programmes will include Gaura dance, Balo dance, Chait, Dhumari, Faag, Ghuichampha, Hudkeli, and male and female Deuda performances representing the local arts and culture.

Deuda players will be honoured with certificates and cash prizes, informed the organiser.

The purpose of the festival is to preserve religious and cultural traditions, honour local arts and culture, and hand down these customs to the younger generation.

The festival has been organised continuously at the bus park for several years. During the four-day celebration, people of all ages, from youth to the elderly, can be seen enjoying the Deuda dance the most.

Mayor Joshi said that the festival not only helps pass down local arts and culture to the younger generation but can also become a tourist attraction.

He further added that everyone should contribute to promoting tourism by preserving, publicising, and promoting local arts and culture.
