Voter Education Campaign Begins Nationwide Ahead of HoR Elections

KATHMANDU:-  With just 18 days remaining for the House of Representatives (HoR) elections, a nationwide voter education campaign has commenced from today.

The programme has been launched in accordance with the Election Education and Voter Education Directive, 2078 BS, targeting to enhance public awareness about the importance of voting rights and the electoral process.

According to the Election Commission Nepal, the voter education drive will run until March 1 across all 6,743 wards in 753 local levels throughout the country. One voter education volunteer will be deployed in each ward to carry out the campaign.

The mobilised volunteers will visit communities and households to inform voters about the significance of participating in elections and provide practical guidance on the voting process using sample ballot papers.

The Commission believes that effective voter education will help boost voter turnout and minimise the number of invalid votes.

EC spokesperson Narayan Prasad Bhattarai said the Commission has sought support, coordination and facilitation from the governments of all seven provinces, local levels, political parties, candidates, media organisations, and other stakeholders to ensure the successful implementation of the programme.
