Louisiana ready to detain illegal immigrants, Dozens illegal immigrants arrested on Wednesday

LOS ANGELES:- Today, the Department of Homeland Security (DHS) announced a new partnership with the state of Louisiana to expand the ICE detention center to 416 beds.

These beds will be available at the Louisiana State Penitentiary, also known as Angola Prison. The facility, dubbed the “Louisiana Lockup,” will house illegal immigrants charged with crimes arrested by ICE.

The agreement was made possible by the One Big Beautiful bill, which provided funding to secure 80,000 new beds for ICE to use when detaining and deporting illegal immigrants.

“Coming soon: Louisiana Lockup to Detain Illegal Immigrants. Today, we are announcing a new partnership with the state of Louisiana to expand the detention area,” said Secretary Noem.

“Illegal immigrants beware: Louisiana lockup is where your time in America ends,” Governor Landry said. “The Louisiana Lockup will give ICE the space it needs to detain some illegal immigrants – murderers, rapists, child sex offenders, drug traffickers and gang members – so they can no longer threaten our families and communities.”

ICE arrested a dozen illegal immigrants in New Orleans on Wednesday, most of whom were charged with felonies.
