Nepali student’s death case: Three Nepalis arrested in Japan

TOKYO:- Three Nepali nationals have been arrested in connection with the death of 25-year-old Nepali student Laxmi Rajbanshi in the Japanese city of Fukuoka. On Tuesday, Japanese police arrested 28-year-old Sanju Tamang, 25-year-old Asumita Tamang, and 22-year-old Pravin Lama on charges of murdering Laxmi.

According to the police, Sanju is a student at a vocational school in Fukuoka. Asumita resides in Tosu, Saga Prefecture, while Pravin is an international student also living in Tosu.

According to the police investigation, Lakshmi was attacked at her home in Fukuoka between 11:30 PM on August 18 and 12:15 AM on August 19. Police suspect that she was struck on the head with an object, strangled with a rope, and then thrown into the river from the third-floor balcony. She reportedly died from drowning in the river.

According to the police, Sanju Laxmi had been living with the person she was dating. At around 5:45 a.m. on August 19, a pedestrian spotted a body floating in the Naka River in the Tenjin area of ​​Fukuoka.

After the police retrieved the body from the river, Lakshmi was declared dead at the scene. Japanese police are conducting further investigations into the incident. Lakshmi had arrived in Japan on a student visa in May 2023.
