City of Artesia stands with Nepali people as they face a massive disaster: Mayor Renee Trevino
LOS ANGELS:- A candlelight vigil and memorial service were held in the city of Artesia, California, to honor those who lost their lives in the recent floods and landslides in Nepal. During the event, prayers were offered for the eternal peace of the deceased and for the speedy recovery of the injured.
At the gathering, Artesia Mayor Rene Trevino expressed the city’s and his own solidarity regarding the tragic events in Nepal, wishing for the eternal peace of the departed souls and a swift recovery for the injured.
At the prayer gathering, Mayor Renee Trevino expressed deep sorrow over the significant loss of life and property caused by the recent floods and landslides in Nepal, affirming her solidarity with the Nepali community during this time of crisis. She emphasized the need for everyone to come together and assist in the rescue and relief efforts for those affected.
Members of the Nepali community in Los Angeles emphasized the need for everyone to provide whatever assistance they could, given that their homeland has been struck by floods and landslides. While sharing information about the geographical location of the affected areas and the number of casualties and injuries, they noted that this tragedy has impacted not only Nepal but the global community as well.
Former Mayor Ali Taj emphasized the importance of humans always maintaining a harmonious relationship with nature. Citing the example of the love for nature demonstrated by the 88,000 sages known as the Sanakadis, he prayed for the eternal peace of the deceased and a speedy recovery for the injured.
On the occasion, Mayor Pro Tem Melissa Ramso noted that while unforeseen tragedies cannot always be averted, collective cooperation is essential for the rescue and relief of those injured in such disasters.
Expressing solidarity with the families suffering from the massive disaster and heavy loss of life and property—as well as with Nepal and the Nepali people as a whole—City Mayor Rene Trevino stated that the City of Artesia stands with Nepal.
City officials and a large number of members from the Nepali community attended the prayer gathering.
