Bhotekoshi flood: 1,204 bodies retrieved
KATHMANDU:- A total of 1,204 bodies have been retrieved so far following the devastating flash floods in the Bhotekoshi and Trishuli river systems on August 26. Wednesday marks the eighth day since the disaster occurred.
According to the National Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Authority (NDRRMA), those bodies were collected from Rasuwa (115), Nuwakot (155), Dhading ( 60), Gorkha ( 69), Tanahu ( 38), Chitwan ( 348), Nawalparasi East ( 217), and Nawalparasi (202).
Among them, 95 remains have been identified and handed over to their families. The number of those who are officially recorded in the list of missing people is 4,216.
The number of the injured persons stands at 301, while 11,993 have been rescued. A total of 21,314 security personnel have been mobilised in the disaster-hit areas for the disaster response.
Holding centres based in Nuwakot, Dhading, Rasuwa and Kathmandu presently house 3,453 citizens left homeless by the floods.
