Four die after being buried in a mudslide in Sarlahi

SARLAHI:- Four died after being buried in a mudslide in Haripurwa Municipality, Sarlahi, on Wednesday morning.

Three children and an elderly person who had gone to collect soil from the Hardikhola located at Haripurwa Municipality-1, which flows along the border of Sarlahi and Mahottari, died on the spot.

All the deceased hail from Magarthana, Sonama Rural Municipality-6 of Mahottari district.

According to the Additional spokesperson and Police Inspector Balistar Singh of the District Police Office, Sarlahi, the deceased have been identified as 65-year-old Sayada Khatun, six-year-old Sabiba Khatun, eight-year-old Dillu Mansur, and nine-year-old Nargis Khatun.

According to him, all four people who were unconscious at the scene were taken to the Malangwa Provincial Hospital for examination and were declared dead by doctors.

Local Dharmendra Paswan said that while digging soil on the bank of the river by trowel, a mound of earth collapsed, burying all four people.

According to Paswan, two of the six people who had come to collect soil for the festival had managed to escape.

The villagers arrived at the scene after the two people who were safe informed them about the incident.

Police took the body of the deceased to the Provincial Hospital, Malangwa for postmortem.

District Police Office Co-Spokesperson Singh said that further investigation into the incident is underway.
