Nepali Congress demands formation of judicial committee for impartial investigation into violent incidents
KATHMANDU:- The Nepali Congress Parliamentary Party has demanded that the government form a judicial inquiry committee to conduct an impartial investigation into the recent violent incidents in Sunsari, Siraha, Dhanusha, and Parsa.
A meeting of the parliamentary party held today expressed concern over these incidents and conveyed its sorrow regarding the fatalities and the injuries sustained by numerous individuals.
After the meeting, Congress Chief Whip Basana Thapa stated, “We demand that the government form a judicial inquiry committee to conduct an impartial investigation into the incident. We earnestly appeal to all parties to prevent such violent incidents from recurring in the future.”
The meeting expressed regret over the incident that incited social discord, noting that a spirit of mutual brotherhood, fraternity, and social harmony—rooted in centuries of respect for one another’s religions, cultures, and traditions—has long prevailed.
The Congress urged the government to spare no effort in treating the injured and appealed to all parties to uphold social harmony, religious tolerance, and restraint to prevent such violent incidents from recurring in the future.
Chief Whip Thapa stated that the meeting approved the ‘Terms of Reference for Coordination between Congress Parliamentary Party MPs,’ which was prepared with the aim of making the relationship between citizens, MPs, and the parliament more effective.
