LOS ANGELES:- Cecilia Vega has publicly shared her views on her dismissal from CBS’s popular program ’60 Minutes’ without explanation.’.
Shortly after dismissing Vega, the management also fired co-correspondent Sharyn Alfonsi, executive producer Tanya Simon, and executive editor Dragan Mihailovich from the CBS television news program in May.
Amidst the prevailing tension among CBS staff, senior journalist Scott Pelley was also dismissed—part of an ongoing pattern of firing media personnel who fall out of favor. No explanations were sought, and the dismissed journalists remained unaware of the reasons behind their termination.

This major shake-up occurred less than a year after Barry Weiss assumed the role of editor-in-chief at CBS in October. Even months after the dismissal, Weiss is left with more questions than answers.
Speaking during an on-stage conversation with ABC News correspondent John Quiñones at the National Association of Hispanic Journalists Conference and Expo held in New Orleans on Thursday, she said, “I don’t know why I was removed.”

Cecilia Vega also admitted to being afraid to speak out about her removal from the ’60 Minutes’ program. “It’s not just about losing a job; there is a lot at stake here,” Vega said on Thursday. “Sometimes, you have to do the work even when you are afraid.”
Vega had previously claimed that she experienced the editorial board’s arbitrary actions and subservience to ownership at ’60 Minutes,’ noting attempts by leadership to “inject political bias into news coverage.”
A senior journalist, recently let go by a prestigious media outlet, says, “I lost my job the very day after a news report conflicting with White House policy was broadcast. American media houses are following the path of media mogul Rupert Murdoch. Press freedom—that is merely a joke told to the Third World.”
