Prime Minister and ministers must be accountable to the party leadership: FM Wagle

We must move forward with great resolve, fully acknowledging that the Honorable Prime Minister and all of us ministers are held accountable by the Nepali people, our party, and our respective leadership. We have stated that we will move away from past distortions and anomalies while also providing incentives to the bureaucracy, to the extent our capacity allows."
KATHMANDU:- Finance Minister Dr. Swarnim Wagle has stated that the Prime Minister and ministers must be accountable to political parties and their leadership.
Speaking during a discussion with secretaries from all ministries regarding the budget implementation plan for the fiscal year 2083/84, Finance Minister Dr. Wagle emphasized that everyone—from the Prime Minister to departmental ministers—must be accountable to the Nepali people, political parties, and the respective leadership.
He stated that the government has adopted a policy of ‘zero tolerance’ regarding the maintenance of good governance and the control of corruption. He maintains that accountability and transparency are essential in the functioning of the state.
Finance Minister Dr. Wagle clarified that a clear vision for good governance has been put forward for the country and that there will be no compromise on this matter. He emphasized the need to reform the bureaucracy by shedding past malpractices and irregularities. Dr. Wagle also stated that the government plans to further incentivize employees based on their work efficiency and capabilities.

While instructing secretaries from all ministries to ensure effective budget implementation and the achievement of governance reform goals, he emphasized that both the political leadership and the bureaucracy must prioritize their respective responsibilities and ethical standards.
