‘Forming a provincial government with three major parties against the mandate’

LALITPUR:- Nepali Congress President Gagan Kumar Thapa has stated that the party will reject the proposal for the three major parties to join forces to form provincial governments, terming it contrary to the popular mandate.
General Secretary Thapa declared that he would not compromise on principles for the sake of power and pledged not to repeat past mistakes.
While addressing the program held in Lalitpur on Sunday—which marked the unveiling of the statue of ‘Saint Leader’ Krishna Prasad Bhattarai and the commencement of the 44th BP Memorial Week—President Thapa declared that he would no longer compromise on principles for the sake of power.
Noting that the credibility of politics has declined due to the mindset that holding power is everything, he emphasized that political parties must now remain faithful to the people’s mandate.

He stated that the credibility of politics has declined due to the trend where a party in the ruling coalition one day suddenly finds itself in the opposition the next, while an opposition party abruptly becomes part of the government.
“Established parties, including the Congress, are currently paying a heavy price for the mindset that holding power is everything,” Thapa said.
