Nepal government lifts ban on social media

KATHMANDU:- The Nepal government has revealed the ban imposed on social media. Minister for Information and Communication Technology Prithvi Subba Gurung has informed that the Cabinet meeting held on Monday decided to open social media.

Minister Prithvi Subba Gurung has said that social media platforms have been reopened as soon as the Cabinet made the decision. The decision to reopen social media platforms has been taken due to protests over the decision to close social media platforms.

Seventeen people lost their lives in Kathmandu and two in Itahari on Monday due to the protest of the Gen Zs. The government finally backed down from the decision after facing strong opposition and pressure from the ruling alliance Nepali Congress Party.
