‘Masterni’ Song in controversy; Priyanka apologized
KATHMANDU:- Actress Priyanka Karki has stated that her serious attention has been drawn to the controversy, reactions, and public interest surrounding the promotional song for the movie ‘Masterni’. She expressed this in a post on Facebook on Friday evening.
Karki has stated that the song released via singer Durgesh Thapa’s YouTube channel is not an official track included in the movie itself, but rather one produced through mutual coordination solely for promotional purposes. She noted that the song has not been incorporated into the film’s storyline at any point.
Actress Karki has stated that she has taken very seriously the complaints alleging that certain words and visuals in the song have tarnished the dignity of the respected teaching profession and the individuals associated with it.
She has stated that when she first embarked on her journey of film production, she never even imagined hurting anyone’s sentiments, profession, or dignity. Karki has also apologized to everyone.
She stated: “When I first embarked on the journey of film production, I never even imagined—nor will I ever in the future—causing offense to anyone’s beliefs, profession, or dignity. I view the current situation as a significant lesson for rectifying my mistake. With the utmost respect, I humbly apologize to all esteemed teachers, the Nepal Teachers’ Federation, and all viewers who were hurt by this incident.”
The Nepal Teachers’ Federation has expressed its disagreement with the lyrics used in the promotional song for the upcoming Nepali film ‘Masterni’, scheduled for release on Bhadra 5.
The Federation had urged for the lyrics to be amended, stating that the words used were disrespectful towards the teaching profession.
