46-mm rainfall recorded at Nagarjun area

KATHMANDU:- Several districts, including Kathmandu, recorded heavy rainfall on Thursday. The Department of Hydrology and Meteorology informed that the Nagarjun area of Kathmandu witnessed 46.2 mm of rainfall.

Across the country, Dodhara-Chandani of Kanchanpur had the highest rainfall with 175 mm in the last 24 hours, while Kapilvastu received 118 mm. Several places in the Kathmandu Valley had heavy rains- 42.8 mm at Sundarjijal, 35 mm each at Kapan and Babarmahal and 15 mm at Budhanilakantha.

The Kathmandu streets were waterlogged following the rainfall, causing huge inconvenience to the vehicles and commuters alike.

Traffic police had to be mobilised to ease vehicular movement disrupted by the inundated roads with heavy rains, according to the central spokesperson of the Nepal Police, Avi Narayan Kafle.

It was, however, a moderate rainfall in Lalitpur and Bhaktapur districts, according to the information officer at the Department, Dinkar Kayastha.
