250 pigs die of African swine fever in Gorkha

GORKHA:- More than 250 pigs have died of African swine fever in the district. The Veterinary Hospital and Livestock Service Centre informed that farmers lost more than 250 pigs due to the African swine fever that has taken toll for two months.

Chief of the Centre, Ananta Koirala, informed that farmer Rajkumar Shrestha from Gorkha Municipality-6 lost 80 pigs in his farm, while Juna Regmi from the same locality lost 10 cattle. 

Total 60 pigs died in a farm belonging to Dhan Kumar Gurung of Mandredhunga within two weeks. 

The African swine flu has spread in the farms of Gorkha Municipality-6, 7 and 8 and Shahid Lakhan Rural Municipality-7. According to Koirala, it has been only about two months since the infection of this disease was detected in the district.(RSS)
