Home Ministry issues ten-point circular to all 77 DAOs
KATHMANDU:- The Ministry of Home Affairs has issued a ten-point directive to all 77 district administration offices to send a report on the progress made in maintaining religious tolerance at the district level, including the initiatives taken.
The circular has been sent in wake of some incidents that have disturbed religious and social harmony in some districts of Tarai and Madhes.
The directive issued today by Under Secretary Rama Acharya Subedi directs all Chief District Officers to immediately bring anyone involved in illegal activities prohibited by law to justice and initiate action.
It also includes holding a coordination meeting with stakeholders to promote religious, social, and cultural harmony and tolerance. Stakeholders include political parties in the district, as well as leaders of social, cultural, and religious sectors.
Programs should be carried out in local languages through various media at the local level and to emphasize the operation of coordinated and promotional programs at the provincial and local levels.
Similarly, a seven-member District Peace and Social Harmony Committee should be formed under the coordination of the Chief District Officer.
Directives have been issued to prepare an annual calendar by preparing a list of potentially controversial programs or festivals based on records of events in previous years. (RSS)
