Writ petitions to be registered and heard in Supreme Court

KATHMANDU:- The Supreme Court is to register and hear writ petitions from October 14.     

A full court meeting of all justices including Chief Justice Prakash Man Singh Raut decided to register and hear writ petitions from coming Tuesday.

“Writ petitions registered in this court, petitions under Section 157 of the Civil Procedure Code, 2074 BS and Sections 73, 137 and 155 of the Criminal Procedure Code, 2074 BS will be registered and heard from October 14,” reads a notice by the Supreme Court. The notice also states the time limitation, deadline and expiration of the date will not apply until another notice is published regarding the regular service delivery of the Supreme Court.

Since the arson that took as part of the Gen-Z protests on September 9, all works except the registration and hearing of habeas corpus petitions and urgent petitions were suspended. After the apex court building was burnt down, it has been functions from a temporary tent set up in the court premises.(RSS)
