Water flow in Kaligandaki increases, urges caution
MYAGDI:- The District Police Office, Myagdi, has urged residents of the riverbank areas to exercise high caution following a rise in the water level of the Kaligandaki River due to rainfall.
Noting that the river’s flow is increasing as floodwaters carrying silt and debris from the direction of Mustang merge into it, the police have requested the public to avoid riverbanks and high-risk areas and to stay in safe locations.
Deputy Superintendent of Police Rajan Karki stated that a notice has been issued advising people to remain alert due to potential risks in the riverbank areas. “We have received reports of a flood carrying mud and debris coming down from upstream. We have urged residents living near the Kali Gandaki River to exercise caution,” he said.
He stated that the Beni-Jomsom road, blocked by a landslide, has not yet been reopened. Transportation services on this section of the Kaligandaki Corridor remain suspended following a landslide that occurred this afternoon at Baiseri in Raghuganga Rural Municipality-2. Police reported that the road could not be made operational due to ongoing rainfall and continuous falling debris.
