Rain and Thunderstorms Likely in Several Parts of Nepal

KATHMANDU:- The Weather Forecasting Division has forecast rain and thunderstorms in various parts of the country due to the partial influence of a westerly low-pressure system combined with local weather conditions.

According to the Division, most Himalayan and hilly regions, including Lumbini, Karnali and Sudurpashchim provinces, are currently experiencing generally cloudy weather, while the Terai region remains partly cloudy. Light rain accompanied by thunder and lightning has been reported in some areas of Bagmati, Gandaki, Lumbini, Karnali and Sudurpashchim provinces.

The Division said Koshi Province and the country’s hilly regions are expected to remain generally cloudy during the day, while Madhesh Province and other hilly areas will witness partly cloudy conditions. Most parts of the Terai are likely to experience mainly fair weather.

There is a possibility of moderate to heavy rainfall with thunder and lightning at some places in Koshi Province and at a few locations in the hilly and Himalayan regions of Bagmati and Gandaki provinces. Light rain and snowfall may also occur at one or two places in the high Himalayan areas.

Meanwhile, temperatures are likely to rise in some parts of Madhesh, Bagmati, Gandaki, Lumbini and the Terai districts of Sudurpashchim Province.

For tonight, the Division has forecast generally cloudy conditions in Koshi Province and other hilly regions, while Madhesh Province and the remaining hilly areas will remain partly cloudy. Most Terai districts are expected to experience mainly fair weather.

The Division has advised the public to remain alert as light rain, thunderstorms and snowfall may occur in isolated areas of Koshi, Bagmati and Gandaki provinces.
