UNHCR and EU team visits Bhutanese refugee camps

JHAPA:- A team comprising high-ranking officials of the UNHCR and European Union has made onsite visit of Bhutanese refugee camps in the east.

The team visited Bhutanese refugee camps in Beldangi of Damak and Pathari Shanischare camp of Morang to know the condition of refugees.

Ambassador of EU to Nepal, Veronique Lorenzo, UNHCR Representative to Nepal, Monique Sokhan, Senior Officer of UNHCR, Nepal, Sangita Khatiwada, country coordinator, Bijay Bajracharya, LWF representative among others were in the team.

The team carried out onsite visit of Pathari Shanischare-based Bhutanese refugee camp on Monday and Beldangi camp in Damak on Wednesday and enquired about their situation.

Similarly, an interaction was organised at Damak municipality where Mayor of Damak municipality, Ram Kumat Thapa, Deputy-Mayor Regina Bhattarai Prasai expressed their views about Bhutanese refugees living at Beldangi camp, problems surfaced due to them and solution to the problems.
