Two dead, six injured in Baitadi jeep accident

BAITADI:- Two people, including the jeep driver, died while six others sustained injuries when a jeep met with an accident in Khipali in Patan Municipality-6 of Baitadi.

“The deceased have been identified as Santosh Bohara, a 24-year-old jeep driver, and 32-year-old Kiran Bohara,” said Balram Pandey, information officer at the District Police Office, Baitadi.

Local Basanta Bahadur Bista said that the jeep (Sudur Paschim Province 04-001 Ja 1372) en route from Dhangadhi to Ganna in Darchula district skidded off the road and fell into a cliff in Khipali at around 5:30 AM on Friday.

Information Officer Pandey said that 25-year-old Hemanta Prasad Bhatta, 52-year-old Kulma Dhami, 27-year-old Rajendra Khatri, 21-year-old Bhagarathi Khatri, their 2-year-old daughter Alisa Khatri, and 39-year-old Ram Kumar Rana, residents of Dilasaini Rural Municipality, were injured in the accident.

Area Police Office, Patan, deployed for rescue and locals reached the scene upon receiving the news.

Police spokesperson Pandey said that all the injured have been provided with first aid at the Primary Health Center in Patan, while preparations are underway to refer the seriously injured elsewhere for further treatment.
