Rabindra Mehta, injured in Kaptanganj incident, dies during treatment

SUNSARI:- Rabindra Mehta, who was critically injured in a shooting incident on Shrawan 10 at Kaptanganj in Dewanganj Rural Municipality-3, Sunsari, has passed away while undergoing treatment in Kathmandu.

Mehta, who was critically injured after being shot, initially received treatment in Biratnagar. As further treatment was not possible there, he was referred to the Tribhuvan University Teaching Hospital in Kathmandu. Bechan Prasad Mehta, Chairperson of Dewanganj Rural Municipality, stated—citing family sources—that he passed away while undergoing treatment.

Chairperson Mehta stated that the news of Mehta’s death has cast a pall of gloom over the Dewanganj and Kaptanganj areas. Local residents have demanded an impartial investigation into the incident, strict action against the guilty, and appropriate compensation for the victim’s family. According to local resident Bibek Mehta, the death toll from the incident has reached three.
