There is no basis for immediate party unity: UML Chair Oli

KATHMANDU:-  CPN-UML Chairman KP Sharma Oli has said that there is no possibility of party unification with other political parties or forces in the current situation.

He urged leaders and cadres not to fall into such expectations or confusion, expressing the view that practical cooperation among like-minded forces is necessary to protect democratic values and norms.

Addressing the Capital Province-level Election Review and Party Reorganization Consultation Program at the UML Central Office in Chyasal, Chairman Oli pointed out the need for a joint struggle based on a common agenda among democratic, leftist and national interest forces.

He clarified that the UML has not adopted a policy of party unification in an institutional or group manner, but said that those who want to join the party individually or in a group will be welcomed openly. Stating that opportunities will be provided generously to those who join the party, he commented that past efforts at unification have been affected by self-interest, political equations and manipulation. According to him, political loyalty and clarity of purpose are necessary for real party unification.

Chairman Oli called the election held on Falgun 21, (5 March) a political exercise aimed at legitimizing the incidents that took place on Bhadra 23 and 24, 2082 BS, (8-9 September 2025). He claimed that the formation of the commission was an attempt to obscure the reality of those incidents, noting that the report of the commission led by Gauri Bahadur Karki failed to identify the party that opened fire on Bhadra 23 and the reasons why the security mechanism was ineffective for two days.

Pointing out the need for further strengthened unity within the party, he called on leaders and activists to present necessary strategies and suggestions to make the organization effective and victorious in the current political situation.
