Supreme Court orders release of Durga Prasai

KATHMANDU:- The Supreme Court has ordered the release of medical practitioner and activist Durga Prasai. A joint bench of Justices Dr. Manoj Kumar Sharma and Meghraj Pokharel issued a writ in Prasai’s favor on Tuesday evening.

Police arrested Prasai on February 19, based on a letter from the Election Commission. He was accused of spreading rumors to influence the work of the Election Commission.

Prasai had claimed that the commission officials had given the official status of the Congress to Gagan Thapa by taking bribes.
