Santosh Gurung elected President of Tamu Pyae Lhu America

COLORADO:- Santosh Gurung has been unanimously elected as the President of Tamu Pye Lhu America. Tamu Pye Lhu America has unanimously elected a new 11-member executive committee and concluded its 12th annual celebration and fourth convention with great fanfare.

The event was hosted by Sharad Raj Aron, Acting Ambassador of Nepal to the United States, and was attended by Boulder City Mayor Aaron Brackett, Michael Dougherty, District Attorney Jane Cowes Superior, Colorado City Council Member, Narayan Shrestha, President, Helping Hands Health and Education Nepal, Chandra Gurung, President, NRNA Colorado Chapter, RC Pant, General Secretary, NRNA NCC America, Prakash Poudel, Youth Vice President, NRNA NCC America, and Dr. Gopal Tamang, Special Guests.

The program began with the playing of the national anthems of Matrubhumi Nepal and Karmabhumi America and the lighting of the lamp by the chief guest and special guests. The program was held in two phases, namely the opening session and the closing session. The program was chaired by the president of the organization, Chakra Bahadur Kromchen Tamu, the opening session was moderated by Shankar Ngormen Tamu, and the closing session was moderated by Min Bahadur Kromchen Tamu.

As per tradition, the chief guest was welcomed with kraegi, bhangra and flowers, and other guests were offered kraegi and bouquets and given a warm welcome and honor.

Second Vice President Santosh Kromchen Tamu stated that the preservation and transmission of Tamu language, culture, religion, tradition and original identity is the shared responsibility of all and expressed his belief that “Tamu souvenirs will be invaluable documents for future generations and a witness to our history, identity and collective journey.” He also called for everyone’s active support and participation for the continuous progress of the organization and the unity of the community.

At the event, Souvenir Publication Coordinator Min Bahadur Kromchen Tamu highlighted the publication process, objectives and importance of ‘Tamu Souvenir Vol. 1’ and expressed his belief that it will remain an important document that will convey the history, language, culture and identity of the Tamu community to future generations. He also expressed his gratitude to all the authors, donors, advertisers and volunteers who supported the publication of the souvenir.

Election Committee member Min Bahadur Tamu conducted the election process and announced the names of the 11-member new working committee under the chairmanship of Santosh Kramchen Tamu.

In the new working committee, the president Santosh Kramchen Tamu, then outgoing president Chakra Kramchen Tamu, vice president Sapna Lem Tamu, general secretary Shankar Ngromein Tamu, joint secretary Joe B. Pahchew Tamu, Treasurer Vinod Tu Klehapri Tamu, Public Relations and Community Participation Coordinator Chandra Lhege Tamu, Youth and Sports Coordinator Kailash Kramchen Tamu, Religious Affairs Coordinator (Khegi Department).
