Republican Purnima Nath running for Wisconsin’s 4th Congressional District
Nath stated that she decided to run in this constituency because it is her home. She wrote, "I did not come here as a professional politician seeking a path to power. I came here because life brought me here. This is my home."
WISCONSIN:- Purnima Nath, a Republican of Indian origin, is set to run for office from Wisconsin’s 4th Congressional District. Confirming her candidacy in a post on X, she stated that she is running out of compassion rather than by coincidence.
Describing herself as an Indian-American and a legal immigrant, she noted in her post that she was inspired to seek public office by a sense of purpose, not by political calculations.
In the post, Nath explained that her presence in Milwaukee was not the result of a deliberate political strategy but rather the beginning of her journey in America as an immigrant; she noted that when she first arrived in the United States, Milwaukee “was not in her plans or on her map.”
She stated that since then, she has come to understand the city’s “struggles, its people, and its possibilities,” and has made it her own through “her presence, her labor, and her commitment to its future.”
Nath stated that she decided to run in this constituency because it is her home. She wrote, “I did not come here as a professional politician seeking a path to power. I came here because life brought me here. This is my home.”
She also spoke about the constituency’s demographic makeup, stating that she does not view the community through the lens of identity-based divisions.
Instead, Nath presented herself as an independent thinker committed to good governance and accountability—someone who “does not discriminate based on skin color, ethnicity, race, religion, or country of origin.”
Nath added that being a recent immigrant does not make her “less American” or a “second-class citizen.”
She stated that she came to the United States “seeking educational degrees, jobs, and professional experience,” and that settling and building a life in this country “was my own choice at every step.”
Nath seeks to represent Wisconsin’s 4th Congressional District.
She previously ran for the same seat in 2024 but lost to Tim Rogers in the Republican primary.
Federal Election Commission records indicate that Nath has filed to run again for the 2026 election through her campaign committee, “Supporters of Purnima Nath.”
Earlier this year, the Milwaukee County Republican Party terminated Nath’s membership.
Nath said on X, “Dissent is not disloyalty. Independent thinking is not extremism.”
Originally from India, Nath holds an MBA from Northwestern University’s Kellogg School of Management. She has worked as an engineer, a strategy and management consultant, and a non-profit founder.
She has also served as the secretary of the Milwaukee County Republican Party and as an alternate delegate to the 2024 Republican National Convention.
The general election for Wisconsin’s 4th Congressional District will be held on November 3, 2026.
