World Cup quarterfinals begin with today’s match between France and Morocco
LOS ANGELES:- The 2026 World Cup has now reached the quarter-final stage. The lineup includes regular contenders like Argentina, France, and Spain, alongside some newer teams such as Norway and Switzerland.
France is the only team to have won all five of its matches without needing extra time, and Kylian Mbappé has been in excellent form. Heading into Thursday’s match against Morocco, he trails Lionel Messi by just one goal in the race for the ‘Golden Boot’. ‘Les Bleus’ (the French team) will be aiming to reach the semi-finals for the third consecutive time and become the third team to secure a spot in the last four across three successive tournaments.
To defeat France, the star players of the ‘Atlas Lions’ (the Moroccan team) will need to deliver their best performance. Morocco is the first African nation to reach the quarter-finals in two consecutive World Cups, and they certainly do not intend to go home at this stage.
Quarter-final match schedule:
Thursday, July 9, 4 PM Eastern Time (Fox Sports): Morocco vs. France (Boston)
Friday, July 10, 3 PM Eastern Time (Fox Sports): Belgium vs. Spain (Los Angeles)
Saturday, July 11, 5 PM Eastern Time (Fox Sports): Norway vs. England (Miami)
