Protest against deportation orders for children issued by immigration court

CHICAGO:- NIJC, alongside Senator Durbin, legal service providers from Illinois, and other elected officials, held a press conference to publicly express their opposition after the Chicago Immigration Court ordered the deportation of nine unaccompanied children.

A press conference and protest were held following an immigration judge’s order to deport nine unaccompanied children.

NIJC attorney Michael Hoyt said, “The administration has weaponized the court system against them, violated their due process, (and) placed children with pending cases and approved protection status into the deportation pipeline.”

Manager Michael Hoyt thanked elected officials—U.S. Representative Mike Quigley, State Senator Cristina Castro, and State Representative Lillian Jimenez—as well as partners The Immigration Project and the Children’s Legal Center, for their help in raising awareness and protecting children.
