PM Karki holds discussion with Prasain-led team

KATHMANDU:- Prime Minister Sushila Karki has engaged in discussions with the Citizen Protection Campaign team led by medical professional Durga Prasain.

Home Minister Om Prakash Aryal, Chief Advisor to the Prime Minister Ajaya Bhadra Khanal, Public Relations Advisor Govinda Narayan Timilsina, and Chief Secretary Sumanraj Aryal were also present in the meeting.

According to the Prime Minister’s private secretariat, lawyers Binod Mani Bhattarai and Lava Neupane had facilitated the meeting.

During the discussions, Prime Minister Karki emphasized the government’s commitment to combating irregularities and corruption.

She acknowledged that several demands put forth by Prasain echoed those articulated during the Gen-Z Uprising, highlighting the government’s responsibility to address the issues.

Nevertheless, she asserted that the matter of debt waiver should be evaluated in light of the State’s capacity to sustain such measures.

As stated, there was a consensus to continue discussions regarding Prasai’s demands in the near future.

In a gesture of goodwill, campaign leader Prasain presented an idol of Goddess Bhagwati Durga to Prime Minister Karki.

Following the meeting, Prasain informed the media that he had put forth a demand to pursue a referendum on the present forms of governance through all-party engagement.

He also noted that Prime Minister Karki assured him of taking a decision to that end by December 17.  (RSS)
