New Nepal Bhasa song released in Kirtipur

KATHMANDU:- A new Nepal Bhasa song titled ‘Ka Nu Wone Maicha Jimithaye Maicha’ was released during an event held in Kirtipur on Saturday.

The song is sung by Ratna Shova Maharjan and Rajesh Maharjan, with music arranged by Jeevit Jalmi and lyrics written Zby Rajesh Maharjan.

The music video, directed by Rajan Shahi, was cinematographed and edited by Manoj Ratna Shahi.

Featuring performances by Rastrika Shakya, Anuj Shakya and members of Tha Baha Bhajan Khala, the video captures scenic locations of Kirtipur and Manakamana, blending the cultural richness of the region with elements of Newari traditions. The storyline follows the blossoming romance between two protagonists as they join a traditional ‘janti’ procession, reflecting the vibrant rituals and customs of Newari-style marriage.

According to the production team, the music video aims to preserve and promote Nepal Bhasa culture while incorporating modern visual storytelling techniques. The song is now available on YouTube.

The event was attended by Kirtipur Municipality former Mayor Ramesh Maharjan, senior film critic Bijay Ratna Ansabare, along with local artists and residents.

According to film critic Bijay Ratna, the video offered a different atmosphere from typical Newari music videos. He said that instead of relying mainly on dance sequences, it presents situational scenes that align with the storyline. Additionally, he said that the cinematography and editing were executed with technical precision, enhancing overall storytelling.
