Nepalis in Gulf Urged to Register Details with Embassies Amid Rising Tensions

KATHMANDU:- Nepali embassies in Gulf countries have urged Nepali nationals working across West Asia to submit their personal and employment details through an online portal launched by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Nepal.

The move comes amid escalating tensions in the region, prompting diplomatic missions to strengthen coordination and preparedness to assist Nepalis in need.

The Embassy of Nepal in Riyadh has called on Nepali workers in Saudi Arabia to provide their information through the portal, stating that the data will help authorities assess their situation and take appropriate measures if required. The portal collects details of Nepali nationals residing in Saudi Arabia, Yemen and other countries in the region.

Embassies are conducting outreach and awareness campaigns to ensure maximum registration and facilitate timely support in case of emergencies.

In addition, liaison committees of various political parties have designated contact persons to help coordinate assistance for affected Nepali workers.

Tensions have heightened in the Gulf region following recent military actions involving the United States, Israel and Iran. As major employment destinations for Nepali youths, Gulf countries host a significant number of Nepali migrant workers, raising concerns about their safety.

According to official data, more than 1.7 million Nepalis are currently employed in Gulf nations. In response to the evolving situation, the government has formed a rapid action team to enhance coordination and prepare for possible rescue and assistance efforts.
