Nepal and Federated States of Micronesia established Diplomatic relations
NEW YORK:- Diplomatic relations were established between Nepal and the Federated States of Micronesia today. With this, the number of countries with which Nepal has established diplomatic relations has reached 185.
Lok Bahadur Thapa, Permanent Representative of Nepal to the United Nations, and Jim S. Līpwe, Permanent Representative of the Federated States of Micronesia to the United Nations, signed a joint communiqué to this effect.
On that occasion, the two ambassadors exchanged views on strengthening bilateral cooperation—particularly at the United Nations and other national and international forums—for the mutual benefit of both countries and their peoples, as well as on various matters of shared interest.
Micronesia is an island nation in the western Pacific Ocean, comprising more than 600 islands. It gained independence on November 3, 1986, and became a member of the United Nations on September 17, 1991.
Micronesia has a total area of 701 square kilometers, and its population is estimated to be around 100,000. Both Nepal and Micronesia are members of the ‘Group of 77 and China’.
